Here you can find the development projects that have been realized since 1994 until 2004. Only the interesting or unusual projects are mentioned.

PCI Card for PC Diagnostics

This special PCI bus diagnostic card has been developed for ELEKTROSYSTEM, spol. s r. o., a company dealing with power industry control solutions.

The card includes a programmable watchdog interface for four digital thermal sensors (I2C bus) and four programmable fan outputs with loopback measurement of fan speed. Fans with both impulse and common outputs are supported; the fan speed is measured by analyzing the alternating component of the passing current.

The firmware of the card allows the PC application software not only to control the watchdog circuit, to pass all up-to-date values (temperature, fan speed) or to control the fan outputs, but even to automatically detect the failure states (temperature above the limit, fan speed drop-off or even cut-off) and signalize them to an external device or restart the system via relay outputs.

All configuration data are stored in an EEPROM memory with user write-protect support.

Display Panels

The display panels for controlling the manufacturing of the car ceiling interior parts has been developed for the Czech local office of Grupo Antolin Autoform, a well-known manufacturer of the components for car industry. Four display panels are currently installed at the BMW manufacturing line and one panel at the AUDI manufacturing line.

The display panels provide the information of predetermined quantity, real quantity and the difference of both values. The values go along with emoticons. Although every display panel operates independently, all of them are connected with the supervisory service computer. The software allows the control to configurate the panels and to record the history for the following manufacture analysis.

The mechanical part of the panels has been managed by MEMBER, s. r. o., the electronics includes custom-made MicroUnit series boards.

Multifunctional PCI Card

This special interface card for PCI bus has been developed for the dataPartner company. This company deals with control system solutions.

The card offers analog differential inputs with high common mode component (up to 250V), four programmable 24-bit counters (several operating modes, including incremental encoding), 20 isolated digital inputs and eight isolated digital outputs. Local bus is prepared for expanding the IO features.

In 2004 the card was extended with add-on module of four D/A convetrers and 16 digital outputs.

Multifunctional USB Module for Seismic Prospecting

The special USB module for seismic prospecting has been developed for the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (ASCR).

The module provides four analog channels fitted with A/D converters and microcontrollers with the digital filtering algorithm. The sampling frequency is adjustable in the range of 125Hz - 1kHz. Up to 20-bit effective resolution may be achieved when using the basic input range of ±2V.
The module allows the user to transfer additional signal (second stamps) from the GPS receiver for synchronising with other devices.

PCI Card for PC Run Synchronisation

This special PCI card for the real-time clock generation using GPS has been developed for ELEKTROSYSTEM, spol. s r. o., a company dealing with power industry control solutions.
The card provides two software-switchable RS-422 interfaces for the communication with GPS receiver and precise time stamp generator based on the Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator (TCXO) combined with Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS) circuit; the PLL algorithm is solved as software processing the time stamps from the GPS receiver. The card firmware has been developed by ELEKTROSYSTEM itself; TEDIA had been only developing hardware and debugging firmware and now it provides the following manufacturing.

Powerful Control Board

This special control board has been developed for the company being engaded mainly in manufacturing, modernizing and servicing of the systems for manufacturing semiconductors and in manufacturing of gas distribution systems.

The board provides two serial interfaces, several isolated digital inputs and outputs, 16-bit resolution isolated analog inputs and the bus for future expansion of the board features via add-on modules.

Video Signal Multiplexer PCI Card

This PCI card with the feature of multiplexing of the video signal has been developed for the company being engaded in the development of the CCTV security systems.
The card includes software-controlled 16-channel video signal multiplexer (the cameras may be distanced up to 100m), signal amplifiers and additional digital inputs and outputs. The card has been tested in the Electrotechnical testing institute - EZU and it complied with strict criteria of the EMC tests of the fire prevention devices and security systems.

Special GPIB + Ethernet + USB Interface

The board was realized on demand as a special inerface for the LEM Norma 4000 device (Austria) for analyzing of the electrical power system parameters.

It provides the bridge of the microcontroller synchronous bus (Motorola MCF5307, 32-bit/36MHz, based on CPLD) to the local asynchronous bus of the GPIB controller, inluding the DMA and IRQ support. The second revision of the board implements also 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet interface.

The third revision of the board (2005) integrates the Ethernet and USB interface. The board is based on the FPGA, used for the DMA transfers between the interface controllers and the data buffers of the device system bus.

Monitoring System for Detecting Gas Concentrations


In the year 2000 we developed the autonomous devices for monitoring and evaluation of the gas concentrations. The device (marked as CS-384) got the prize for the best exhibit at Aquatherm 2000.

The units were modernized in 2003, the graphical LCD and evaluating and displaying of PEL (permissable exposure limit) was added. This innovated module was signed as CS-484.

In 2004, both versions were significantly modernized, e.g. LED display has been replaced by a graphlic LCD screen. The new versions are named as CS-484 and CS-484E.

Control Units for Tension Testing Machines

The intelligent interface units for the tension testing machines control communicate via RS-485 interface using an approved AIBus-2 protocol (the communication protocol of the MicroUnit series modules). The units provide 16-bit analog inputs, one 16-bit analog output, incremental encoder and digital ports (16 DIN + 8 DOUT) with guaranteed interrupt control 50 times per second.

48-channel Measuring System

This device has been developed for the measurements in the Temelín nuclear power plant. It is able to record data of 48 channels (sampled synchronously). The core of the system are two PCA-1228 cards with additional custom-made sampler units with differential inputs and user-selectable input ranges. The Windows driver allows the operator to record the data to the harddisk continuously at the sampling frequency of max. 160 kHz.

Cards for Time Synchronisation via GPS

This add-on card, supplemented with an intelligent converter and external module is intended for the PC time synchronisation with UTC (Universal Time Coordinated).

New type of the card (GPS-11) for PCI bus was developed in 2003. It may distribute the generated time to the slave systems with high accuracy and time stability.

S-BUS Protocol Communication Cards

Standard PCI-052 cards were modified for use in SKODA AUTO a.s. Mladá Boleslav. The PC systems installed in the company are based on 15 microcontroller PC add-on cards with the S-BUS protocol implemented in them. They operate under Windows 2000 operating software.
The order included developing of the special firmware and driver for Windows 2000.

Devices for Stage Managing

Several types of devices for processing the signals from incremental encoders have been developed during the last couple of years. They have been applied on the main stage of the The National Theatre and also in the Archa theater.

The microcontroller units process the quadrature signals of the incremental encoders and communicate with the master device via fast serial line (up to 1000 transfers per second) or via special paralel interface (Petherick code). Long-period reliable counter data backup has been also solved (replacing the absolute sensors by common incremental encoder).

Units for Controlling the Silicon Furnace

PWM modulator units for controlling the silicon furnace via RS-485 interface has been developed. The module provides the PWM generator, phase locked to the line frequency (50 Hz), which controls high-power thyristors every multiple of the line half period. There is an analog input for controlling the modulator, which can be controlled via serial line.

Harmonic Signal Generator Cards

This PC add-on card has been developed for calibrating of the electrometers. It provides six harmonic signal generators using the Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS). The frequencies are programmable in the range of 40 - 90 Hz, with 0° - 357° mutual phase shift and 0 - 4.095V amplitude.

Replacement of Motor Potentiometer Units

The units for replacing of the motor potentiometer has been developed for the purposes of the system reconstruction in energetics. Due to a specific use (i.e. nuclear power plants) it was necessary to avoid using of the microcontroller components. The whole unit has been realised by combining analog devices, gate array and classis CMOS components. Regardless all of these restrictions, the data backup has been solved by high-capacity capacitor and a configurable power-up state has been achieved.

ECG Patient Unit

The standard 10-lead ECG machine has been realised in TEDIA development department and it passed the clinical tests. The device was realised as low-power, so one power battery cell satisfies. It communicates with the computer via fibre optics; high isolation voltage has been achieved.

The whole project has been taken over by a company dealing with medical electronics distribution.
