PCI Communication cards - First generation
Introduction
During the years 2006 - 2007, the TEDIA PCI communication cards had been revised. The first generation cards had been intended only for Conventional 5V PCI bus.
The second generation cards are intended for Conventional 5V PCI bus (i.e. classic 32-bit bus) or 3.3V bus (usually 64-bit PCI bus) and PCI-X (high-performance variant of 64-bit PCI designed for servers). The newly revised cards are labelled as "U" (universal) and they may be used in all PCI slots (3.3V and/or 5V).
Below you can find the overview of the discontinued cards with the actual availability and suggestions for the second generation replacement types. You may also use new PCI Express communication cards.
PCI-1222, PCI-1224

The PCI-1222/1224 PCI cards are based on the Oxford Semiconductor controller OX16PCI954 that provides PCI bus interface, 4 efficient UARTs (16C950 standard) and parallel interface in one circuit.
The first two ports in the PCI-1224 (or both ports in the PCI-1222 card) lead to the D-Sub 9 connectors, located on the card mounting bracket, the other two ports are accessible via the expansion card, fitted with the interface circuits located in the next slot. The expansion card is included. The ports provide full modem control signals and standard D-Sub 9 pin layout.
The remarkable feature is a presence of several LED indicators on the card mounting bracket (a pair for every port), providing a comfortable check of the line activity..

The first two ports in the PCI-1234/1284 (or both ports in the PCI-1232 card) lead to the D-Sub 9 connectors, located on the card mounting bracket, the other two ports are accessible via the expansion card, fitted with the interface circuits located in the next slot. The expansion card is included. The ports provide full modem control signals and standard D-Sub 9 pin layout.
All ports provide the optical isolation.

The PCI-1472/1474 PCI cards are based on the Oxford Semiconductor controller OX16PCI954 that provides PCI bus interface, 4 efficient UARTs (16C950 standard) and parallel interface in one circuit.
Like any other TEDIA products, the RS-422/485 output circuits provide surge protection (TVS diodes) and termination impedances with fail-safe bias resistors, as advised by many standards (e.g. Profibus).
Compared to the ordinary solutions with external resistors, the built-in termination impedances are easier to use, as they lead out to the independent pins at the D-Sub 9 connector and the connection of the neighbor pins at the lead-in cable connector is sufficient for their use.
The first two ports in the PCI-1474 (or both ports in the PCI-1472 card) lead to the D-Sub 9 connectors, located on the card mounting bracket, the other two ports are accessible via the expansion card, fitted with the interface circuits located in the next slot. The expansion card is included.
The ports are (unlike all other RS-422/485 TEDIA communication cards) optically isolated.

The PCI-1602/1604/1634 PCI cards are based on the Oxford Semiconductor controller OX16PCI954 that provides PCI bus interface, 4 efficient UARTs (16C950 standard) and parallel interface in one circuit.
The PCI-1602 card provides two RS-422/485 ports at the D-Sub 9 connectors located at the PC card mounting bracket. Like any other TEDIA products, the RS-422/485 output circuits provide surge protection (TVS diodes) and termination impedances with fail-safe bias resistors, as advised by many standards (e.g. Profibus).
Unlike other TEDIA communicaton cards, the RTS/CTS signals are also provided at this card.
The PCI-1604 and PCI-1634 jcards are the four port variants of the PCI-1602 card; the PCI-1604 card provides 4x RS-422/485 ports, the PCI-1634 card provides 2x RS-422/485 and 2x RS-232.
All ports provide the optical isolation.

The TEDIA PCI-1602 card is 100% compatible with PCI-1602B (Advantech) or CP-132IS (Moxa); in addition, PCI-1602 offers the LED indicators at the card mounting bracket and a possibility of extending the number of ports to four.
