PCI Express communication cards

With over 25 years of plug-in card design and manufacturing experience (ISA, PC/104, PCI, PCI Express), TEDIA provides a wide range of industrial communication products.

PCI Express (or PCIe) communication cards add extra COM port interfaces to the PC systems equipped with PCI Express bus. The cards provide RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485 interface standards in various combinations.

All TEDIA PCIe communication cards provide optical isolated ports. Optional surge arresters can be added to protect isolation barrier against breakdown caused by induced overvoltage. For more information see safety guidelines for preventing overvoltage damage.

All PCI Express communication cards are based on MCS9901CV controller (manufacturer MosChip Semiconductor) or MCS9904CV controller (manufacturer ASIX Electronics Corp.) that provides PCI Express bus interface, four efficient UARTs (similar to the 16C950 standard) with DMA FIFO 2x 128B in one circuit.

Note: The first generation of cards (discontinued in 2013) was equipped with the MCS9901CV controller (MosChip Semiconductor), the second generation is equipped with the MCS9904CV controller (ASIX Electronics Corp.); both types have almost identical properties.

Software support

Drivers for the following operating systems are available for COM PCIe cards:

All drivers mentioned above are available in the Download section.
Limited MS-DOS support (usually requires program modification).
The cards are supported in Linux, kernel v. 2.4 and higher (without TEDIA technical support).

Note: Do you have questions regarding the serial communications? See the serial communication guidelines, or feel free to contact our technical support.
